Dance Costume Ideas

Naturally flamboyant dancers consistently attempt to surprise, shock and delight one another with strange costumes and original routines. In the world of ballroom and professional dancing, the notoriety of a unique dancer counts almost as much as proficiency.
Horse head and butt...
A twist on an old standby; adapting a country and western routine with a horse costume can delight an audience. With one dancer as a head and the other dancer as the rear, starting and ending the routine together or separate gives a natural frame to the audience, and plenty of innuendos fill the down time.
Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers
Although nothing seems original about dressing up as Fred and Ginger, switching the male and female costumes is something new. Although having a man dance as a woman is almost impossible since it is a different style, the audience is probably not thinking about that incongruity while on the ground laughing.
Raggedy Ann and Andy
These two costumes seem exaggerated versions of clowns, but dressing up as these cultural icons is both easy and hilarious. Several song selections or dances fit these costumes, all of which rile up the audience (think jitterbug).
Skin suits
Any costume store carries skin suits, which mimic the look of naked skin from a distance. If both dancers wear this style of costume, the audience comes alive with the innuendo and suggestive remarks, and plenty of jokes are made.
Ballroom dancers love innuendo and dirty humor, so often the best humor is the bluest humor. Take heed of costume choice if children are in the audience.
